The WKF-world champion (World Karate Federation) of the year 2000 Lazar Boskovic was fourteen years old, as he had gotten in touch with Karate for the first time. He was also inclined to be involved with other sports like basket-ball and swimming, which he quit doing shortly after he began with the training of Karate. To commit to sports is something that he senses as a regime to take care of his body, gaining a meaning out of it and have the awareness that the body has it's function. "Finding a meaning through sports shows me something positive and constructive and according to that it is ought to give people joy," he announces his attitude to it.
Among his favourite experiences Lazar Boskovic reckons his wins in Karate at different championships the trips abroad being connected with that. A special highlight for him was the participation at the World Championship 1998 in Rio de Janeiro. Lazar Boskovic knows of nobody that he could mention as a personal example. "By many people one can be impressed and by some people one can learn very much", he states.

This is an exerpt of an interview being published in the magazine ‚ Kampfkunst International' (Martial Arts International):
Question: "What is it that you trace your success back to?"
Lazar: "A further point now and then changing my life out of the sports is being gifted to believe in my Lord, our God and to love HIM with all of my heart. I became religious in the month of September 2000. I spent seven years comig to an understanding with the question about the Biblical God. One of my best friends is a religious Christian and he had accompanied me during this time at many discussions and prayers. On the day of my World Championship I had put my whole faith into God and I had let Him decide about win or defeat. I had trusted in Him and this faith also gave me the calmness, regardless if it was for me to win or lose. He gave me the win and that is what I thank Him for with all of my heart. The following verse I have read on the day of my championship: Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perihable wreath, but we an imperishable (1st Corinthians 9, 25)."
Question: "Who were and who are your personal examples?"
Lazar: "Since I became religious God became my example. I am endeavoured to fufil His will and to live as He wants me to. Indeed, the Bible also says mankind is imperfect, i.e. sinful thus acting against God's will but the Bible also states that God is willing to forgive one if one acknowledges sinfulness and humbles in prayer to Him. Therefore one must accept one's imperfectness and also try to please Him."
