Moldavia, a republic in the southern part of Eastern Europe. Moldavia borders on Ukrainia with its northern, eastern and
its southern part and on Romania with its western part. As a Socialist Soviet Republic (SSR) the country of Moldavia formerly belonged to the Union of the Socialist Soviet Republics (USSR). The Moldavians mainly profess the Orthodoxed Church as their religion. Since the beginning of the ninetys the political changes repeatedly resulted in consequences of an economical crisis. The transition from a planned economy towards the structures of free enterprise still turns out in a very difficult way. Like in most other former Soviet Republics the economy in Moldavia also suffered from breaking off with trade relations. And the economical decline also got speeded up by the civil war that took place in the region of Trans-Dnjestr. By 1992 the production has decreased by 30 percent. The industry for consumer goods had to withstand the highest loss for it is very dependent on foreign trade.
At the time when Ion Cheptene (president of the Tae-Kown-Doe-Union of Moldavia) became a religious Christian he started teaching the Bible during his training lessons and every student had to go through an exam of biblical knowledge. Conversion was no mandatory but this way many of his students got and still get to the perception and into a living relationship with Jesus Christ.

Many school teachers for example move out of the country into town to earn more money hoping to live a better life. In result the youngsters are on their own, get organized in gangs and becomme criminals.
In the last few years many Tae-Kwon-Doe-clubs that include Bible studies in their weekly training lessons could get established in locations where no Christian churches and communities exist.
Even the holiday camps that welcome up to 300 young people that mainly come from the street are set up in a way to have them practising the martial arts and additionally get to know Jesus.
The Moldavian Tae-Kwon-Doe-team consisting of Christians is presently looking forward to find a sponsor for the Olympic Games 2004 in Athens.
We also are hoping to get the opportunity to spread the gospel among martial artists and fight oriented sportsmen during the Olympic Games.

"He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white" Revelation 3,5

The Taekwon-Do Club "Stolas Leukas" was founded in Moldova, in September 1997 by Vasile Vilat with the the goal of youth evangelism by sports and inductive Bible study.
The first hour of each training is dedicated to bible study.
At each level (every three month) the student has to pass a Bible study course from the "Precept upon precept" series.
Only the person who has successfully passed the Bible test, can be admitted to the technical exam.
In order to receive the first black belt each sportsman has to pass 12 Bible study.

Up to now God has blessed us with the followings:
1) The number of disciples has grown up to 510 students in 23 groups from 13 localities and more than 185 of them became Christians.
2) The 75 exhibitions that included sportsmen´s testimonies and Bible message have been held in schools, higher education institutes and army.
3) Each summer we had camps and just in the last summer there were 6 camps with more than 345 students who studied intensively the Bible and as a result 66 of them received Jesus as their personal Savior and 27 other good sportsmen has been trained and started news groups in September.
4) Seven instructors of our club entered the induktive Bible Institute of Moldova for three more years of further training.
5) At the different competitions our sportsmen received medals as follows: 28first, 19second, and 17Third places.
At the 7-th American Eagle Taekwon-Do Tournament held on January 23, 1999 in USA our sportsmen won the silver medal and in November 2000, at the Championship of Romania, the other sportsmen became the champion.

God has given us the vision and we pray for:
1) To rent a gym and to equip it for intensive training and Bible study and to train there instructors-missonaries who will go teach through all the country of Moldova. Funds are needed for renting a gym.
2) To hold one week seminar with all the instructors of our club and to invite the instructors of other clubs to join our vision.
At this seminar to teach them the black belt program and methods how to teach effectively Bible study and Taekwon-Do.
3) To have in the summer eight camps with 700 students and to teach and motivate other 25 sportsmen to start mission activities through Taekwon-Do. Sponsorship are needed for the students.
4) To start for the next years Taekwon-Do groups in all the villages of Moldova where there are no evangelical churches. These groups will be the basis for planting new churches.
5) Training of qualified sportsmen for the participation at Olympic Games in 2004 which will be held in Greece (not far from Moldova).

A Brand new Project
Because in Moldova there is now a huge interest among young people for studying English, the Lord gave us the vision to do missions using English, alongside with Taekwon-Do.
So, after praying on this project Lord spoke to nine other ladies who study at the Kishinev State University (K.S.U.) and some teach there so they started this October, and use English grammar manuals as well as Precept upon Precept books.
As a result there are now eight groups in Chisinau.
We are very encouraged by these results and now we pray for:
Renting a place in the city for classrooms.
Next summer English camps with all the students that study presently.
