Ecumenism

In this case it can be only one unity among Christians and that is the body of Christ described in 1 Cor. 12, 12-31. He alone is the unity formed by all believers no matter what denominations or splinter groups of Christianity they may be in.
"They are one" in answer to the prayer of Jesus in John 17, 20-21, because they have been "reborn" and have the same life and the same nature as Christ.
The unity of the body of Christ is neither an external unification of visible churches, nor is it a general agreement of certain convictions at the expense of fundamental truths pertaining to the Word of God and to Christianity.
